In the job market? This is your time to shine! For those who are uncomfortable being in the spotlight, this is not the time to shy away from attention. Rather, it’s an opportunity to highlight the value you provide to potential employers. Here are three things you can do to draw attention to you and how you’re a great fit for roles:
1. Take time, if not every day, then at least 2-3 times a week to engage with your professional network and see who you know who could potentially broker an introduction for you. This can be a good time of year for people to have informational meetings when work may be slower during holiday season.
2. Take advantage of quieter days to tackle the tasks that take greater concentration: updating docs. and profiles, getting your pitch down pat, or getting laser focused on the types of roles and orgs. that are the best fit for you.
3. Document your stories and examples of results and outcomes that you can use in interviews, introductory conversations, etc. that clearly show how great you are.
Just because we’re headed into holiday season doesn’t necessarily mean that things aren’t happening. Putting the spotlight on yourself now can reap great rewards later – you never know who will see you.
